Virginia3960 Foster, Australia Fabulous cottage
Crofters Cottage is the perfect place to stay on Isle of Mull. Well located - can walk into the centre of Tobermory 10 mins (although it is15 mins back up the hill but don't blame the cottage) - dear little cottage with 2 beds, 2 bathrooms and everything you could possibly need for a week's stay - kitchen is beautifully appointed in oak and has full stove, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, slow cooker, grillers, TV (plus TV's in the bedroom too) - a gorgeous little spot with outdoor furniture by the front door for a glass of wine in the afternoon. Only one other cottage nearby but great privacy. The final tick really comfortable beds and a great welcome from John and Hilda including a bottle of wine and biscuits. Oh also - a GOOD supply of toilet paper, dishwasher tablets, soap etc - so nice.
Sunshine_720 Spacious and well renovated property
We stayed with 2 kids ( 11 & 9 years old) & loved it! We really appreciated the log burning fire, spacious layout, comfortable & firm beds & beautiful clean, cotton sheets. We found the cottage had everything we needed - as well as the wine & biscuits too! It was was a great location - quiet but easy to get to Tobermory. We hope & look forward to a return visit soon. Mull was fantastic & we really enjoyed coming back to the cottage after a busy day out. I rarely write reviews but this deserved a mention. Thank you.
We booked Erray Cottage for 7 nights. When we arrived I was pleased to find the cottage was much bigger than it looked on photographs. The heating was on and there were biscuits, milk, tea and sugar waiting. The cottage is really lovely inside with large, bright and airy rooms and a wrap-around garden with beautiful views. It is also spotlessly clean and well equipped, with pretty much everything we needed during our stay. There was a slight problem with the heated towel rail, but not enough to raise the issue at the time. I left a note for the housekeeper and after we had left, Andrea contacted me straight away so that she could have it fixed. Erray Cottage is next door to a farm, which has chickens, cows, sheep and a little black and white cat who sleeps in the barn! There are some beautiful horses too. It was interesting when the horse whisperer arrived! We took the trip with Staffa Tours to Lunga and The Treshnish Isles. Lots of cute puffins and other seabirds, Fingal's Cave and dolphins swimming around our boat, "Angus" on the way back. We took the bus and the CalMac to Oban one day and took several walks around Aros Park. We had to take in the distillery too! We were surprised to find that the Highland Games, which we enjoyed, were on - at the Golf Course at the bottom of our drive! There is no sign saying that it is a private road and so most days we had lost walkers and drivers appearing, to which we giggled "Get off my land!" The weather was good pretty much all week and we were often able to sit in the garden and watch the farm animals in the fields - and an occasional chicken visitor! It was a 2 mile round trip to the far end of the town and harbour - Ledaig. There is a local fishmonger on the main top road and a well-stocked Co-op in the harbour and lots of interesting shops and places to eat and drink on the way back up the hill! (kept us fit!) We ate 3 times at Café Fish - lovely seafood and at the Western Isles Hotel.
We had an amazing week at Erray Cottage. The location was perfect for us. Lovely and rural but within walking distance of Tobermory. The boys loved watching the horses and farm animals in the surrounding fields and we even saw deer a few times. The cottage was spot!ess on arrival and had everything we needed. The garden was brilliant for the kids. Thank you for the milk and biscuits. We had such a good time and will book again. Thanks Andrea and Harry.
A great base to see the island. The cottage was well equipped and in a peaceful location. The milk and biscuits were greatly recieved. Having good amenities nearby meant we could access things with ease, from restaurants, tours, walking and food shopping. Will definitely come back in search of the elusive otters! It was a great week and we managed to do lots of sightseeing within Mull,Iona, Ulva, Staffa and Lunga!!
Spent a week on Mull and Erray cottage was our base. Perfect little cottage, very comfortable with a lovely open fire. Bonus! Great location if you like it quiet and out the way. Loved the seating area in the back garden; we had great weather and used this a lot! Very friendly communication with the lovely hosts, cottage had everything we needed and more. Only one parking area but that was not a problem for us. Will definitely be back!
Perfect peaceful location with cows, sheep and horses for neighbours. Very clean, well equipped cottage, and the washing machine came in handy which meant we did not go home with a suitcase full of dirty laundry. Cosy with real coal fire. Lovely garden with patio area and drying green. Only half a mile or so from the main hub of Tobermory. Up a few steep hills and so may not suit anyone with disabilities. I loved the cottage and would stay here again in a minute. Unfortunately we are now back home to the busy stressful Glasgow environment. Can't wait to escape again soon. Thank you so much to the owners.
Erray Cottage is in a very peaceful location in the countryside above Tobermory. Deer were frequently seen in the field near the cottage. Inside it is cosy and has all you need for self catering. There are lots of beautiful coastal walks at the North end of Mull and a trip via the small car ferry to Ardnamurchan to visit the lighthouse is a worthwhile excursion. There appear to be plenty of places to eat in Tobermory. We found the Fish and Chip Les Routiers caravan on the quay in Tobermory served delicious freshly cooked to order different varieties of fish with chips.
We enjoyed a very peaceful holiday at Erray Cottage.
